Kyte Mettke was born and raised in Las Vegas and has been playing trumpet since 11 years old. He currently attends University of Nevada, Las Vegas majoring in Music Education. Kyte teaches all brass instruments, including trumpet, his primary instrument, as well as French horn, trombone, bass trombone, and tuba.


While at UNLV, Kyte has had the opportunity to travel and perform at the JEN conference in New Orleans with the award-winning UNLV Jazz Ensemble 1 and to perform in a prelude performance at the International Trumpet Guild in Anaheim, California as part of the UNLV Trumpet Studio.


Kyte graduated from an American high school school in Okinawa, Japan. During his time in Japan, Kyte gained experience performing jazz across the country at various jazz venues. Teaching since 2023, Kyte also currently coaches high school brass players as a brass technician, conducting sectionals for brass instrumentalists as they prepare for their marching band season.


Kyte's teaching philosophy is for all students to have the same opportunity to learn music in a challenging yet fun manner. His goals for students is for them to gradually gain the ability to accomplish any musical goal they would have through gradual growth and improvement.
