Giovanni Santo Lacala

Giovanni Lacala is a dedicated musician and educator with a passion for sharing the art of music. He earned his Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and has extensive experience performing across various genres, including jazz, swing, Latin, and pop.

Giovanni plays and teaches trombone, piano, and brass instruments, bringing a well-rounded approach to music instruction. He has performed with esteemed groups such as Trombone Shorty’s New Breed Brass Band, the Rat Pack Is Back Show at the Tuscany Hotel, the Zombie Burlesque Show at Planet Hollywood, and Latin Breeze at the M Resort. He has also appeared at major events, including the F1 Pre-Race Show and the Monterey Jazz Festival.

A recipient of numerous accolades, Giovanni has earned Downbeat Magazine Awards with UNLV’s Jazz Ensemble 1, performed with the Nevada Music Educators Association All-State Band, and received the prestigious Joe Williams Scholarship Award. His commitment to excellence has led him to stages such as Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City and the International Trombone Festival in Arkansas.

Giovanni has been teaching since 2022, helping students develop strong technique, musicality, and confidence in their playing. His teaching philosophy focuses on building a solid foundation while encouraging creativity, discipline, and a love for music. Whether working with beginners or advanced students, he tailors lessons to each individual's needs, ensuring progress and enjoyment in the learning process.
