Colin Marks is a trombonist and composer from Seattle Washington, who teaches low brass instruments (including Trombone, Bass Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, and Tuba) from beginner to advanced players, piano, and composition. He has his bachelor's degree in music composition from Western Washington University and is a current Masters student at University of Nevada Las Vegas where he is studying music composition. Colin is well versed in both the jazz and classical world.


His wide range of experience includes: traveling to Spain with the WWU orchestra where he played principal trombone, second chair in the WWU wind ensemble, and second trombone in the Odd Fellows Big Band. He is currently apart of UNLV's Big Band and Trombone Choir.


Colin is both a performer and a composer. In 2023, he won the Western Washington University Orchestration Competition where the WWU Orchestra premiered his original composition, "Disposition". In November of 2024, the UNLV trombone choir premiered his trombone octet, "Imposition". In December of 2024, Colin had UNLV's big band 2 premiere his original big band chart, "Pursuit".


Colin's teaching philosophy revolves around making music accessible to everyone of all skill levels. He believes everyone learns differently and strives to fulfill all his students learning needs.
